What is bio-slurry?
- Material that remains after decomposition of organic materials is called digestate – or bio-slurry
- A liquid containing all nutrients from the manure and organic materials
- Has been pre-treated (part of the organicmaterials are decomposed)
- May improve plant health
- WARNING: May contain contaminants:
- Biological (e-coli, micro-organisms, ringworms)
- Chemical (heavy metals)
Bio-slurry Composition:
- Contains basic nutrients and can serve as an organic fertilizer
- Nutrients are mostly readily available (especially nitrogen)
- Favourable acidity (pH)
- Homogenized organic matter
